7 DAYS TOUR EXPLORING NATURE OF NORTHERN LAOS

                            

 

DAY 1 – WELCOME LUANG PRABANG -   WORLD HERITAGE SITE 

Upon arrival in LUANG PRABANG airport, meet your driver and transfer to your hotel. 

Free time for  the rest of day during which youcan enjoy and relax with traditional LAO massage

included.

In the evening, you can climb up to the top of PHOUSI mountain for an enjoyable exploration

of the sacred Stupa, as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong river.

DAY 2 – CITY TOUR LUANG PRABANG

If you wish, wake up early to see (and participate to) the early morning ritual of saffron clad monks taking offerings from the local people  and visit  morning fresh market. After breakfast , with your driver or your local experienced English speaking guide and driver, enjoy touring some of the most important and oldest temples  : WAT XIENG THONG, WAT MAI, WAT XIENG MOUANE, WAT AHAM and WAT VISOUN.  After lunch, travel out of town for 30 KM to the wonderful clear blue KUANG SI  waterfalls, where you can swim, relax, trek to the top of the falls. there, you can visit a daily exhibition showing how to protect Asian’s bears. Return to city. Dinner and night in LUANG PRABANG

 

DAY 3 - LUANG PRABANG – NONG KHIEW – MUANG NGOI

After your  breakfast, head up north by car about 130 Kms to NONG KHIEW where we take a slow boat to sail on NAM OU river surrounded  by wonderful landscape and tropical vegetation to reach MUANG NGOI village. After having lunch in a local restaurant we go for a walk in the middle of the rice fields area, Dinner and night in MUANG NGOI guesthouse.

 

DAY 4 – TREKKING ARROUND MUANG NGOI

We start an easy trekking day (with local guide) to discoverl small typical lao villages

and visit the THAM KANG cave, where people used to live during Vietnam war.

DAY 5 – MUANG NGOI TO MUANG KHOUA

We board another slow traditional boat for about 4h30 to MUANG KHOUA

along NAM OU river that is surrounded by jagged limestone karsts.

 Then we stop to visit a few small ethnic villages

which are very interesting, especoally because of their variety.

DAY 6 – MUANG KHOUA TO MUANG LA

We travel by car on the mountain road  from MUANG KHOUA to  MUANG LA. As this LAOS province is the most ethnically diverse of all with over 20 ethnic groups, we will make a few stop to visit villages such as AKHA PARA, and TAI DAM  (where we can taste rice whisky, a sticky rice alcohol product) and also the village of KHAMOU.

DAY 7 – MUANG LA - OUDOMXAY - LUANG PRABANG

After breakfast, we take a mountain’s road again, surrounded by  wonderful  landscape. We cross OUDOMXAI city, and visit VAT PHU THAT temple at the top of the hill. We have lunch at a very nice restaurant in OUDOMXAI. After lunch, we follow the road to LUANG PRABANG with a stop at famous PAK OU cave, crammed with thousands of BUDDHA statues of various shapes and sizes, where you can also enjoy a beautiful view of the peaceful countryside flourishing with limestone karsts.  On arrival in LUANG PRABANG, transfer to your hotel, or at the airport to take your departing flight. End of the trip.
